Our library serves students PreK through 1st grade.
We believe that reading is critical to student success and offer our students access to a large selection of quality picture books and leveled readers to take home and enjoy.

Our library is also a place of imagination and creativity, and the library program's incorporation of creative play and opportunities for "tinkering" reflect that. Our young students develop fine motor skills, practice problem solving, and learn important social skills through the creative play and constructive opportunities in our library MakerSpace, all while having an opportunity to innovate and explore important STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) principles that extend classroom learning.

About Mrs. Kinney

This is my second year as the librarian at O.A. Fleming Elementary.  I began teaching thirteen years ago at Freeport Intermediate School and I soon realized that the library was my favorite place to take my classes.  It wasn't long before I enrolled in classes to become a librarian.  I have eight years of experience as a librarian and a Master's of Science degree in School Library & Information Sciences. I am married to Jeff, who is an assistant principal at Lake Jackson Intermediate School, and we have a seven year-old daughter and five year-old son.  In my spare time I enjoy playing with my kids, reading, and photography.  My favorite picture books are Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems because it reminds me of my daughter and Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak because it's the one my son always chooses.
