BISD school nurses are proud to be a part of your child’s education. Success in school is directly related to the good health and emotional well-being of each student. Although primary responsibility for the care of children lies with parents, BISD school nurses are here to assist and support parent’s efforts to maintain good health in their children.
School nurses do not diagnose. We assess and make recommendations based on that assessment. We are always happy to have you call with questions and concerns or stop in and visit about your child’s health. Our goal is to educate all children--beginning in elementary school--to take control of their own health care management so they can grow up strong and independent.
Please remember that any medications to be administered at school must be kept in school clinic and given by school nurse. Also, parent/guardian must transport medication to and from school; students cannot transport medication to school.
Attached is medication guidelines and parent permission form. Please complete and turn into nurse with medication.

Please do not send your child to school if they have a fever greater than 100.0, vomiting, diarrhea, pink eye, lice, or any other contagious illness as determined by their healthcare provider.
If your child is home sick, they are not to return to school until they are fever, vomit, and/or diarrhea free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.
